While representing La Grange Park Little League as an all-star is a great accomplishment that should be celebrated, it also involves certain financial, time, and volunteer commitments.  Please see the sections below to understand the various commitments that come along with being an LGP All-Star.

Financial Commitment:

  • Cost is $80 per player.  This cost helps cover uniforms and tournament fees.
  • The league is also offering a $50 volunteer buy-out option for all-star parents who are unable to volunteer for 2 shifts (please see volunteer commitment section below).

Time Commitment:

  • Prior to all-star selection, parents will be sent an availability form.  This form can also be found on the All-Stars Availability Forms page on the website.  The availability form is an important input into determining if players will be able to participate in the all-star season.  If a player is unavailable for 1 or more tournaments, he/she may not be selected to the all-star team in order to give another player an opportunity to participate.  Please ensure the availability form is completed accurately to allow for a fair all-star selection process.
  • While the timing of all-star games and tournaments vary from year to year and are not finalized until late in the season, families can expect 9u, 10u, 11u, and 12u tournaments to begin the last weekend in June and extend through the final weekend in July, depending on the success of the team.  Families can expect 8u tournaments to begin the last weekend in June and extend through mid-July.

Volunteer Commitment:

  • Parents of all-stars are expected to volunteer for at least 2 shifts at Hanesworth Field during the all-star season.  These shifts may include field preparation, scoring, announcing, and concessions.  The league tries to keep the cost of all-stars as low as possible.  In order to do this, the league relies on volunteer help from all of its all-star parents.
  • Parental volunteer obligations will be the same, if not more, for the 8u and 9u parents as these two ages will be hosting tournaments at Hanesworth Field.  It is the obligation of the 8u and 9u parents to help aid in the production of these invitational tournaments.
  • If all-star parents are unable to fulfill the 2-shift volunteer obligation, they can opt-out of the commitment by paying a $50 fee to the league (in addition to the $80 cost).
